Driving with a trailer: when do you need a separate vignette?
4 min
Trailer rules differ dramatically by country. In some places, the trailer inherits the towing vehicle's vignette. In others, you need a separate one depending on weight and vehicle class.
In Austria, trailers up to 3.5 tonnes do not need a separate vignette if the towing vehicle is properly vignetted. In Czechia, Slovakia, and Slovenia, trailers generally need their own vignette regardless of weight. Hungary exempts light trailers but requires one for heavier combinations.
Always check the specific rules for each country before your trip. Our guides help you plan correctly.
